Secretary:
Joyce Chase
Joyce visited the Rensselaerville Historical Society one Wednesday in 2009 and has hardly missed a week since. Born and raised in Medusa, NY, she is a Mom of three, Grandma of six and Great Grandma of five. With the death of her husband, ten years ago, the RHS with its family atmosphere, support, humor and education, has become an important part of Joyce's life. Her family owned Main Street Garage in Greenville for 17 years and her husband was in politics for 12. She was his unpaid secretary for ten of those years. Her specialty at “The Mill” is genealogy. In addition, she has learned about deeds and how to read property maps. Her name has been after the words “Respectfully Submitted, Secretary” for many years. The mentors when she joined RHS are all gone now and filling their “shoes” has been a challenge, but it is rewarding and she highly recommends the RHS for anyone looking to volunteer.
